Apple's iPhone Is Yahoo's Biggest Search Term of the Year

Apple's iPhone was the most-searched term of the year, Yahoo is set to report Thursday.our editor recommendsApple Has Sold More Than 4 Million iPhone 4S DevicesiPhone 4 Explodes on Australian FlightSiri, the iPhone 4S Personal Assistant, Achieves Viral Fame with Snarky Remarks (Video) In its 10th annual Year in Review, the online portal and search company says the iPhone marks the second time in a decade that a gadget has topped its list, the first time being in 2002 when Sony's PlayStation 2 was the most-searched term on the Internet. PHOTOS: Apple Products in TV and Movies Last year's winner was the BP Oil Spill, the year before that it was Michael Jackson, and four years in a row prior to that it was Britney Spears who dominated Web search. Following the iPhone, the next biggest search term in 2011 thus far is Casey Anthony, who was found not guilty of murdering her 2-year-old daughter three years earlier. All other terms in the top 10 were Hollywood celebrities: Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez, Lindsay Lohan and Jennifer Aniston. Yahoo also breaks it down into categories, such as "Top-Searched Obsessions." Charlie Sheen was tops there, beating out oddities like The Rapture, Angry Birds, Planking and Tiger Mom. PHOTOS: Charlie Sheen's Wacky Twitpics The top athletes were auto racer Danica Patrick and golfer Tiger Woods, while the most-searched political figures were Sarah Palin followed by President Obama. Former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger was fifth on that list, just after former presidential hopeful John Edwards.
