Arnold Schwarzenegger Attached to Star in 'Black Sands'

When it comes to action films that sound like direct-to-video ventures, Arnold Schwarzenegger has the genre covered. The former Governator -- currently filming the pulpy last-man-standing drama 'The Last Stand' -- is apparently attached to star in 'Black Sands,' according to a new report from Deadline. Scott Waugh and Mike McCoy will direct the film from a script by Skip Woods, who wrote 'A Good Day to Die Hard.' If this comes together, Schwarzenegger "will play a loner who wages war against a ruthless weapons manufacturer and his private army in the Southwest." Of course he will. QED is financing the film, with the hopes that production can commence on April 1, 2012. If QED sounds familiar, that's because you might remember how Bill Block's film company was also behind 'Cry Macho,' the other genre-y action flick that Schwarzenegger was going to star in as part of his film comeback. That film has been tabled for now. 'The Last Stand' is due in theaters in 2013. You can catch Schwarzenegger in 'The Expendables 2' next summer.
